The Sports Syndicate
FANDOM GONE TOO FAR
Why The Sports Syndicate?
Frankly, if fandom was just fandom, then why would it take over during work hours, sleep hours, and the hours in between? No, what we are experiencing now is a full-blown obsession. One that involves over analyzing meaningless “what ifs” and taking the role of fantasy football commissioner too seriously. An obsession that led a high-schooler to believing their sports article should be posted in the local newspaper and making it happen. An obsession that led to this: the outgrowing of sending creative works via Google Docs links, favoring instead the creation of an entire website dedicated to all of the above - “what ifs”, commissionering, and random-thought articles.
Why be part of this community?
Outside of needing to keep up with your fantasy league, this community serves as an entertaining (albeit, from a humorous internal thought of “man, this is over-the-top”) escape from reading articles from sports “experts” (in quotation because I out pick-em’d each and every ESPN expert 3 NFL seasons running and have screamed “BANG” at the same time as Mike Breen on live telecasts on at least 4 occasions) and the comments section on social media.
Sometimes we need that off-the-beaten-path, I-knew-that-guy-before-he-gained-a-following, hole-in-the-wall type of feel. If that’s you in this moment, then welcome. It isn’t going to cost you a dime.
What to expect?
The unexpected. When we feel passionate, we’ll post a story about anything and everything. When we finish a fantasy week, you’ll get a power rankings or tiers. Who knows, maybe even a mini-series could be in the works? No schedule to follow, just notifications to your email when we post something you might enjoy.
Welcome to The Sports Syndicate.
